CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Thea was speed walking down the path, until they reached the line of trees. “Will you PLEASE slow down.” Percy, who still had his jacket on, was not amused by the amount of sweat he had dripping down his brow. “We’ll get there soon, I promise.”

“I doubt that crow is just a regular crow. I prefer to be hidden a bit by the trees. I’ll slow down now. Take your jacket off before you get heat stroke.”

“What kind of crow is it?” Percy took off his multiple layers of coats, folded them into a little bundle, that he was able to carry over his shoulders like a knapsack. “I’ll cut its head off if that would make you settle down.” He smugly placed his large axe on his ample shoulder.

Thea rubbed her temple as she softly laughed at him. “It’s a witch. Actually, probably multiple witches. I have a coven after me, and they can change into crows. If you can cut her head off, that would probably be a great help to me, but chances are she’ll electrocute you long before you ever get close to her with your axe there, buddy.” Thea patted him on his shoulder before she started to continue down the path after her cat.

“But, aren’t you a witch? Shouldn’t you all just get along? Like a comradery of witches, or something?”

“Do you get along with everyone that you meet that is a blue skinned knight?”

Percy took her sarcastic question to heart as he pondered for a minute on how to respond. “I guess not. That was a stupid question.”

“The sad part is, I don’t remember what I did to get us to the point we are at now. I’ve heard pieces of it from other people, but I have surreal memories about everything. I can’t tell anymore what is reality, or what is a suggested memory. It freaks me out a little, and I don’t really know how to act. I just shrug and go with what I’m told, unless I learn something different. Now the crow witch wants me dead, and all I can do is defend myself. That’s how Robin’s sister died; Agatha got into the cross fire between Thalia and myself.” The guilt caused Thea’s eyes to start to tear up.

“I’m sorry you lost your friend.” Percy was watching Thea closely, as her pace started to pick up again. She shook her head; Thea was trying to ignore all of her feelings that were brewing inside.

“We weren’t friends. The sad part is, I was ready to do that to Agatha myself. I let my anger consume me, and all I wanted to do was to find her, and make her feel the hurt I was feeling. I have so many unanswered questions, and I think they all died with her.”

She rubbed the corners of her eyes. “Sorry. I’m just really worried about Robin right now. She’s been acting weird, and I don’t know what to do for her. Nothing I say or do is going to bring her sister back, or make her feel better.
